Inspiring Young Women's Awards 2026-27

The Inspiring Young Women’s Award (the Award) is a new award, which recognises and celebrates young Tasmanian women who have shown strong ability, commitment, or achievement in their chosen field, passion or area of interest. This includes women with transgender and/or non-binary experience

The Award is separated into three age categories:

• 12-16 years of age
• 17-21 years of age
• 22-30 years of age.

You may nominate more than one person, but each nomination requires its own form.

The Award recipients and their potential, contributions, and achievements will be promoted across Tasmania, including through social media and media outlets.

Nominations open at 9:00am on 2 June2026, and close at 2:00pm on 30 September 2026.

Late nominations cannot be accepted.

Please confirm you have read and understood the Inspiring Young Women Awards 2026-27 Guidelines.

You can nominate an individual for the Award if they:

• identify as a young woman, including those with a trans and/or non-binary experience
• are between 12 and 30 years of age (as of 7 March 2026)
• have lived in Tasmania for a minimum of 12 months prior to nomination
• have demonstrated incredible potential, contributions or achievement in their chosen field, passion or area of interest.

We encourage nominations of Aboriginal women, women with disability, women from regional and rural communities, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and LGBTIQA+ community, including those with a trans and/or non-binary experience.

• Anyone can nominate a young woman. Self-nominations are also invited.
• Nominees under 18 years of age require written parent/guardian consent to be nominated.
• You must be familiar with the nominee’s work and be able to discuss their achievements in detail.

The nomination form allows for up to 800 words describing the nominee’s achievements. It is important to complete all relevant sections of the nomination form, providing enough detail to allow the Judging Panel to fully assess your nomination.

Tips for sharing your nominee’s story include:

• describe the nominee’s activities and include examples of what they have done
• explain how their actions demonstrate incredible potential or achievement
• explain how the nominee’s actions have made (or could make) a positive impact in their chosen field, passion, or area of interest
• outline how the nominee’s actions position them as a role model or inspiration for other young Tasmanian women, including those with a trans and/or non-binary experience.
