Introduction

The Tasmanian Government committed $1 million for the Tasmanian Men's Sheds Capital Investment Grants Program 2025 (Grants Program) through the 2024 State Election, and the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, Supporting Stronger Communities.

This capital investment aims to increase capacity and sustainability of Men’s Sheds for their Shed members and broader communities. The Grants Program will fund capital works or projects that are of a permanent or fixed upgrade to the Sheds themselves.

Through this Grants Program, grants of up to $50,000 are available for:

  • the construction of new Sheds where the remaining required funds have been secured;
  • capital works to current shed premises including infrastructure upgrades, renovations, construction, or building improvements; and
  • the outright (freehold) purchase of Men’s Sheds where the remaining required funds have been secured.

Projects that may require more than $50,000 could be considered for ‘additional funding’, if the total $1 million pool is not exhausted in the initial grant round.

Funded projects must start no later than three (3) months after receipt of funding, with the grant money expended and the Final Reports provided to the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC) by 20 December 2026.

NOTE; Tools, equipment, machinery, other men’s health training or initiatives are funded separately through the Tasmanian Men’s Shed Association (TMSA) Grants Program and should not be applied for in this Grants Program.
