Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women 2026-27

The Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women recognises and celebrates Tasmanian women and women’s organisations who have made a significant contribution in Tasmania, across Australia, or internationally.

The Honour Roll:

• shares the stories and achievements of Tasmanian women
• preserves these stories as part of Tasmania’s history
• inspires future generations
• showcases contributions from many fields such as community service, science, the arts, sport, education, business, public service, environment, and more.

Nominations for the 2026-27 Induction open at 9:00am on 2 June 2026, and close at 2.00pm on 30 September 2026.

Late nominations will not be accepted.

We encourage nominations of women and organisations representing diverse communities, including Aboriginal women, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and those from the LGBTIQA+ community.

Please confirm you have read and understood the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women guidelines.

Individual women

You can nominate a woman who:

• identifies as a woman
• has made significant contribution at local, state, national, or international level
• was born in Tasmania, has lived in Tasmania for a significant period, or has made a meaningful contribution to Tasmania.

Women from all backgrounds are welcome, including:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
• women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
• LGBTIQA+ women
• women of all ages.

You can nominate someone who is no longer living. For nominees who have recently passed away, we require permission from the senior next‑of‑kin.

Serving Members of Parliament and Vice‑Regal office holders cannot be considered while in office.

Women’s organisations

An organisation can be nominated if:

• it has significantly contributed to the Tasmanian women’s sector
• its core work is focused on Tasmania.

Nominations should be for the overarching organisation, not individual branches. Organisations that are no longer operating can also be nominated.

• Anyone can nominate a woman or women’s organisation (called a nominee).
• Nominations must be submitted by an individual other than the nominee, or by an organisation.
• You must be familiar with the nominee’s work and be able to discuss their achievements in detail.

The nomination form allows for up to 800 words describing the nominee’s achievements. Provide clear, relevant information addressing the following criteria:

• Contribution to the Tasmanian community
• How they inspire and act as a role model
• Personal, academic, community and/or professional achievements
• Efforts to advance social justice and equality
• Leadership and contribution in their field
• Contribution to regional communities
• Degree of difficulty of their achievements
• Volunteer work

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

All nominations are assessed by a panel of community representatives, and a nomination does not necessarily mean that it will be successful.

Serving MP’s/Vice-Regal office holders cannot be considered while still serving.

Performance of business-as-usual duties or role is not necessarily sufficient or a necessary criterion to be nominated.
